Who I am as an Artist
2019 is here- I spent the afternoon of the first of January thinking of my being and why I am a creative and visual person. I have concluded I have been gifted to be so. We all seem to be given a special gift/s to counterbalance where we are not so gifted.
Also Ivy Newport's new internet magzine "Studio Works" first issue has lead me to "exploring my Creative self and practice. I fully understand my nature now. I a process artisan.
My purpose and joy in doing art is to learn a process (which is play). Not for the purpose of a finished result. Often I am content to stop after reaching a certain point in my process.
I am an artisan because I have a small natural talent (which is essence). I work hard in doing my craft with a passion and readiness to learn. Hard work makes my art possible (which is effort).
I also like simplicity in art. So much art done today by non-master artists is so laiden with layering, embellishments and gimmicks.
Pictured is an example of my love of simplicity. It is plaster on canvas board with colleged mixed media, colored with copic pens and finished with gold gel pen and pearl add ons.
after many Internet sites Workshops with prompts and directives it was such a delight to do something with my own prompting and directives. Work of ones own gives such a special feeling (an expression of your own heart done with your soul).
