I went to a lumber store and got some scrap pieces of cedar. I looked at our family tree photos and found this one of my Mom (as a young woman back in the 20's) I played with the photo in photo shop and got an impression of her face and neck. I painted her on the piece of 12"x45 cedar" board -thinking of garden parties and summer in her parents back yard and the fact that she and her sisters were very fashionable this is what happened "Hilda at a Garden Party." Now I want to do one of my Dad as a young man . He was always dressed very dapperly. I think that was the thing in the 20's and 30's :) click on photos and see the painting and its progression and orginial photo I love the simplicity of it and how the cedar gave texture
